Defence for Children International the Netherlands advocated for the implementation of the Core Standards for Guardians of Separated Children at the Council of Europe in September 2014. Tineke Strik, member of the Dutch Senate and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, subsequently submitted a motion. The motion calls for the Core Standards to be used as a monitoring mechanism in the member states of the Council of Europe. The motion passed on 3 December 2014. The Council of Europe will now appoint a rapporteur on the topic. This means that a resolution will follow. The project partners are delighted by the recent developments at the Council of Europe.
