Council of Europe appoints rapporteur on core standards for guardians

June 2015 Defence for Children – ECPAT The Netherlands advocated for the implementation of the Core Standards for Guardians of Separated Children at the Council of Europe in September 2014. Tineke Strik, member of the Dutch Senate and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, subsequently submitted a motion. The motion called for the Core Standards to be used as a monitoring mechanism in the Member States of the Council of Europe. The motion passed on 3 December 2014. As a follow-up to the motion, the Council of Europe appointed René Rouquet, member of the National Assembly of France, as special rapporteur. An outline of the report will be discussed in September 2015 at the Council of Europe.
